It’s challenging for many organizations to take existing content and repurpose it in a way that’s fun and engaging. A stack of compliance regulations and PowerPoint slides full of bulleted text are typical starting points, and often they are the end points as well. The result is ho-hum learning that doesn’t achieve the intended outcomes. Studies show that fun actually promotes learning as elements of novelty evoke wonder and curiosity. It’s not fun for fun’s sake; it’s fun for learning’s sake.

In this session, participants will experience instructional strategies for making learning fun, including gamification and game mechanics. You will learn how to use existing tools and technologies to build innovative learning environments that are collaborative, competitive, and exploratory. You will also gain clarity on how to identify good learning solutions vs. ineffective ones and identify roadblocks to fun learning that restrict the learner from paths of exploration. And most importantly, you will see the positive impact that fun learning can have on the organization’s culture.

In this session, you will learn:

  • The science of fun for learning, with specific examples of fun used effectively in workplace learning
  • Instructional strategies for making learning fun, including gamification and game mechanics
  • How to use existing tools and technologies to build innovative learning environments that are collaborative and competitive
  • How to identify good learning solutions vs. ineffective ones
  • How to identify the positive impact that fun learning can have on the organization’s culture
